Want to sew a feminine and comfortable wrap top? Discover the CURSIVE pattern by Maison Fauve, a knit design with a high neckline, a fitted cut, and a long tie belt to accentuate the waist.
With an intermediate skill level, CURSIVE is ideal for completing your mid-season outfits and adding warmth to your dresses and tops. The technical points covered in this free sewing tutorial are:
- Sewing open darts,
- Setting a high collar,
- Assembling a facing and a belt,
- Sewing clean hems on knit fabric.
To ensure your project is a success, here are some tips for sewing knit fabrics:
-
For the CURSIVE wrap top pattern, choose a stretchy knit, such as cotton jersey or ribbed viscose, cut-and-sew knit, or stretch milano. Woven fabrics, even with elastane, are not recommended.
-
Use a ballpoint needle and select a stretch stitch on your sewing machine.
-
On a serger, adjust the differential feed to maintain the elasticity of the seams.
-
For hems, prefer a stretch twin needle to achieve beautiful finishes.
